Week 5 Assignment

My Jing!
Note: sorry for the barking dog in the background :)

Jing can be used in many different grade levels and subjects. I used it to help explain a powerpoint, which was so easy to do. I could easily see myself using this to tape a hard problem I did in the math classroom so that the students can take it home and review it to help with their homework. This could also be used during class so the teacher can continue to help students, while the presentation or powerpoint continues or even just to make sure students are staying on task and taking notes. Another way this can be used is to assist students with learning disabilities or students that have missed class. I could easily email this to a student to learn or just review what we did in class that day. Another way to use this is to physically show a teacher during professional development or just sharing how to use a specific technology or website. Overall this is a very useful technology that can be used anywhere with anything.

  1. It is a really good point that the teacher could play the narrated power point presentation for the class while he or she circulates the room, I never even thought of that! Students are always getting off task so that would be beneficial for the teacher. Also your point that the Jing could be emailed to a student who missed class is true also. Instead of just print outs of the slides you can have the teacher's commentary as well.

  2. I really like the fact that you said that the students could use this at home for reinforcement... That's a great idea!

  3. I like the idea of recording example math problems. As a math teacher, I can definitely see myself doing that! That would be extremely helpful for students who have missed class. Great Job!

  4. All of your ideas are great Jackie. I too agree that this is something that comes in very handy for students who are absent or those who simply need more review and recitation. Great thoughts for recording an explanation of a difficult example. It's always nice when students go home to do their homework, they are able to go through the steps with a guide.

  5. Wow! I love it! Reinforcement and repeated practices are essential to students' learning. This certainly will help if students grasp the concept correctly. :-)
